Michael McLaughlin, CFA, ASA, CVA brings over 25 years of business, accounting and finance experience to his valuation and litigation support practice.  Mr. McLaughlin performs valuations for various purposes including matrimonial and shareholder litigation, gift and estate tax planning/administration and financial reporting.  Prior to working at Sigma Valuation Consulting, Mr. McLaughlin worked at two mid-sized accounting firms in their forensic, litigation and valuation groups focusing on providing these services for matrimonial and shareholder litigation.

Mr. McLaughlin is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with significant valuation and investment management experience.  Michael is also an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA).  He has provided expert testimony in both deposition and trial, and has been appointed as a neutral valuation expert by the New York Supreme Court in New York, Westchester, Putman, and Kings counties.  Mr. McLaughlin provides business valuation services across numerous industries.  He is also trained in collaborative divorce practices and mediation and is capable of assisting clients in negotiating and structuring settlements related to matrimonial matters.  He is a member of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals.

Mr. McLaughlin’s expertise and affable manner has made him a frequent speaker.  He has instructed on continuing education topics for the New York Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New York County Lawyers Association, Rockland County Bar Association, and National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and other professional organizations.  Examples include: How to Prepare for the Cross-Examination of an Expert Witness, Market Approach to Business Valuation, Valuation of Closely Held Businesses, Valuing Financial Assets for Matrimonial Purposes, and Stock Option Valuation.

Michael received a B.A. from Hamilton College and an M.B.A in Accounting from Pace University.
